As political activities continue to hit up ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention and the 2023 general elections, a governorship aspirant of the APC, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas has continued to set the pace with his political movement across Adamawa state.

The lawmaker who is representing Ganye, Jada, Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa at the House of Representatives has been on the news recently for his developmental strides and political activities that have continued to give the seating government sleepless nights.

On Saturday, activities in the ancient town of Mubi briefly came to a halt as a mamooth crowd of supporters, party faithful, and associates, received Adamawa’s foremost gubernatorial hopeful, Rt Hon Abdulrazak Namdas who was in the town to launch his campaign office ahead of 2023 general election.

Enthusiastic youths in their thousands who turned the event into a carnival hold placards with various support inscriptions and chant slogans like “come and save us; you are the best; the messiah has come; tomorrow’s governor, Mai capacity.”

The supporters then escorted the gubernatorial hopeful to the palace of the Emir of Mubi leading to a serious traffic snarl as activities in the commercial hub came to a halt.

The emir of Mubi who expressed delight with the visit of the gubernatorial hopeful wished him good luck in his quest to rule the state.

He urged politicians to conduct themselves peacefully as we approach another electioneering year.

During his interaction with the mammoth crowd, the gubernatorial hopeful said, he was in the race to turn around the fortunes of the state, noting that he has the magic wand to bring rapid socio-economic development into the state.

He noted that one of his priority projects in Mubi is to rejuvenate the state university which is still crawling more than 20 years after its establishment.

“This zone is blessed with a state university that was established 20 years ago when I was in governor Boni Haruna’s administration. But we are yet to get the full potential of the university. We don’t have faculty of medicine, we don’t have faculty of engineering and we don’t have faculty of pharmacy, and what have you.

“For us to move the country forward, we have to engage our youth in some of these activities and we also have to restore our vocational training centers which were established by Nyako. Several billion have been invested in them but most of the equipment has been stolen. Until you give the youth quality education it will be difficult to harness their full potentials,” he said.

He expressed joy for the overwhelming reception he received in the town even though he only came to open his campaign office.

“You can see right from the gate of Mubi to the palace of the emir and up to this place the youths are enthusiastic. I didn’t come for a rally but just to open my campaign office. If it was a rally it is a different thing but you can see that they came in their multitudes. They want to have a young man as the governor of the state, of course, the governor of the state is also a young person but I’m younger, I have the contacts and I have the experience and I know how to talk to the people and I know what they want,” he said.

Namdas said if, given the mandate, he will hit the ground running as he has a clear vision about what he wants to do urging the people to trust him with their mandate.

Also speaking, a former reps member Ahmed Wangubi Fons urged the people of Mubi to in the spirit of giving and take support Ganye this time around adding that the Ganye local government where Namdas came from has established long ties with the Mubi emirate council noting that Ganye and Mubi are Siamese twins.
