Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has Thursday afternoon commissioned the newly constructed Adamawa Infectious Disease Centre at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.

The center is expected to serve as an isolation center for the treatment of coronavirus patients as well as a treatment center for other infectious diseases.

The governor while inaugurating the center applauds the efforts of the Adamawa State COVID-19 Containment Committee in ensuring that the project is completed within the targeted period of five weeks.

“I am happy to commission this wonderful edifice that was provided by the government of Adamawa and supervised by the containment committee in the state. This building is equipped with a state of the art equipment and we are ready to serve the people of the state.
“We will continue to give priority to this center because of its importance to the healthy development of the state, ” he said.

The governor said he is confident that the place will be well maintained considering the caliber of professionals involved in the project.

“It will be managed by well-qualified personnel which includes a consultant heading the place and the state commissioner of health who is a professor of medicine and the Medical Director of the hospital who is a senior consultant of surgery. The government is ever ready to provide every support they will need to maintain this place and give good services to our people.”

He said the committee and the contractors have far superseded what the state has provided for them and what he expected to see.
