Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, the member representing Ganye, Jada, Toungo and Mayo-Belwa federal constituency has tasked citizens to use this Christmas season and pray for peace and an end to the persistent insecurity in the country.

While wishing Christians a merry Christmas and a peaceful celebration, the lawmaker who is the chairman, House of Reps Committee on Army said there is a need for a fervent prayer for an end to the rampant kidnappings, banditry and killings across the country.

Namdas in a statement signed by his media coordinator, Percy Dabang urged citizens to reflect the true meaning of Christmas which is love in all their dealings.

” As we go about the 2020 celebration of Christmas, I want us all to emulate the true meaning of Christmas in our endeavours. Let’s show love to one another irrespective of our religious, ethnic and political difference. This is also the time and season for us to pray for the return of peace and end to the many security challenges that has hindered our progress as a nation,” he said.

He also called on citizens to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols as they go about the celebrations.

” There has been an upsurge in the cases of Coronavirus recently. This clearly tells us that the long prospected second wave is upon us. It is important that we adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and other health agencies by observing the non pharmaceutical protocols of regular washing of hands, using hand sanitizers, face mask and maintaining physical distancing,” the statement reads.

” On behalf of myself and the entire people of my constituency, I wish you a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”
