As the farming season sets in amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the Adamawa state government is making plans to make fertilizers available to farmers in the state at subsidize rates to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 on farmers.

Adamawa state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Garba Umar Pella, who made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting said the state executive council has approved the some of five hundred and fifty million naira (N550m) for the purchase of five thousand metric tonnes of NPK fertilizer to be sold at affordable rate to farmers.

Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who presided over the council meeting also approved the sum of one hundred and six million naira (N106m) for the purchase of petrochemicals and hybrid seeds for disbursement to farmers for the 2020 farming season.

Also, Adamawa state commissioner Contributing, for Agriculture Mitikishe DishiKhobe said the purchase will be timely and that farmers will get the items at subsidized rates.
