In making sure that both foreign and domestic companies comply to a good standard of their produced products, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) issued a certificate of operation to Muphilo milling Rice company Nigeria limited in Taraba.

The Taraba State SON coordinator, Mrs Janet Meken-Vakkai confirmed this development to our correspondent during the ceremony of the certificate presentation in Jalingo,that Muphilo has been certified to Nigerian industrial standard.

She said SON has the mandate of giving the quality compliance certificate to any company both within and outside the country which meets the basic requirements standard of consumables for the country.

According to her,after five years of close monitoring, examination and evaluation the company appeared the first indigenous factory to be given a certificate of quality assurance.

She opined that SON is a parastatal under trade and investment, whose duty is to insist factories are manufacturing their products according to Nigeria’s industrial standard, and if goods are being imported to the country they make sure it meets the international standard.

She further said that If it’s within the country, any cottage company, any blue chief company that is into the production of goods is under their surveillance, periodically visit to see their production line and observing their market survey.

“A scheme known as Mandatory conformity assessment program (MANCAP) monitored this company, gave them a certificate of quality assurance. This is means that the Nigerian government can vouge for their products anywhere, that their standard can be accepted Internationally and to also tell Nigerians they can produce for the World.

“This company is the first indigenous Rice Factory in Taraba that’s getting this Award, their company have been certified with the quality standard,” Janet said

The Manager of Muphilo Rice Mills, Alhaji Mohammed Madu while receiving the Certificate said his company is duty-bound to maintain the integrity of the company through the certificate it got.

He said he will insist on quality Rice produce as his vision is to see that the company not only provide good quality Rice to the Nation but to other countries for consumption.

While going around the factory to have an eye witness how the Rice is being processed for final consumption by all invited guests, Chairman of the occasion, Adebayo Olu profiled the factory by saying that at moment produce 46 metric tonnes of Rice is being processed per day.

According to him the company work 16 hours every day and has about 26 workers.

He thanked the government of Taraba state for given Muphilo the enabling business environment to reach to this level.

He, however, appealed to the administration of Arch Dickson Ishaku Darius to give soft loan to rice farmers in the state.
