Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has pardoned 46 inmates serving prison terms in various Correctional Institutions across the State.

This is contained in a statement signed by Press Secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou and made available to newsmen, Thursday.

According to the statement, the pardon is in exercise of the powers conferred on the government by section 212(i)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor in the statement said “the forty-six pardoned inmates are serving their terms in Jada, Ganye, Numan, Jimeta, Yola, Mubi and Kojoli Correctional facilities.”

It further states that governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s decision is part of efforts to decongest some of the overburdened Correctional Centres in the wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
