Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has pardoned 171 inmates serving various prison terms in sixteen Correctional Institutions across the State.

A statement signed by Press Secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou states that the 171 are among the list of 2,600 inmates earlier pardoned by the Federal Government.

It could be recalled that the Governor had earlier granted amnesty to 46 inmates in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 212(i)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The statement further states Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s decision is in consonance with the Federal Government’s effort to decongest some of the overcrowded Correctional Centres, in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic.
