Borno state has commenced screening of road travelers against covid-19 on all entry points into the state.

The committee headed by the state Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur Sunday deployed health workers armed with temperature monitoring devices as well as sanitizers to the various entry points.

Kadafur revealed that those with travel history of interest that had flown into Maiduguri were tested and the results had all come back negative.

This new measure according to the committee is to ensure that nobody imports the disease from other parts of the country into the state.

The state government is more concerned about preventing the importation and spread of the disease in the state which would be disastrous given the clustered nature of shelters especially among displaced persons.

Travelers at the city gate in a community called Njimtilo, seem informed about the pandemic and are happy with the safety measures introduced by the government.

Meanwhile the government had announced that all entry points would not be open for travelers from Tuesday 31st March 2020.

The ban however does not affect Food trucks and those on humanitarian work.
