Atiku’s Yola based company, Gotel communications have reportedly sacked fifty-four (54) staff amid continues rise in the cases of coronavirus pandemic and it’s occasioned hardship on Nigeria’s citizens.

The company which is now run by PRIAM Group of Companies has on Thursday evening handed sack letters to about five top management staff and other junior permanent, artistes and auxiliary staff.

Gotel communications, comprising of TV Gotel, Radio Gotel and Gotel FM is reported to have been in serious management and financial crisis over a long period of time.

Newsline sources confirmed that the action by the company is an alleged move to cut cost amid the economic challenges Nigeria and the world is going through as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

This is not the first time that Gotel communications will be laying off staff unceremoniously, with the first in 2016 when over one hundred staff were laid off with no benefit.

Recall that PRIAM Group of Companies had donated fifty million naira (N50m) to the federal government’s COVID-19 Funds despite owing staff three months’ salaries at the time. The former Vice President was also among few Nigerians who advised the federal government and private organizations against laying off staff at this crisis moment.

Some close sources of the company said more staff may be laid off in the coming days.
