One person has been confirmed dead in a stampede at the Kwanan Waya government warehouse following a massive looting of palliatives allegedly hoarded by government.

Some residents had Sunday morning broke into a warehouse at Kwanan Waya where foodstuff believed to be COVID-19 palliative have been kept.

The angry residents blamed government for hoarding the items while residents are suffering in hunger.

The Adamawa state government has since imposed a 24-hours curfew across the state to curtail the looting which he feared may affect private businesses.

” Fellow citizens we cannot allow hoodlums and misguided elements to operate unchallenged when we are already battling with the challenges of Insurgency, Kidnapping, Cattle Rustling, Banditry and Farmer/Herder clashes.

” Furthermore, reports of people dying in the stampede have been received and we cannot afford to allow anyone to lose his or her life,” the governor said.
