Former officials of the All Progressives in Adamawa state have unanimously endorsed the candidature of Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas to fly the party’s ticket in the 2023 elections.

The former leaders made the decision during a meeting held at the Fombina Ambassadors Royal Resort in Yola on Saturday.

The group consists of former elected executives of the party from the 21 local governments and at the state level.

The leader of the group, Mohammed Mayas who addressed the stakeholders, said they have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the existing executives and assured them of their loyalty while expressing their readiness to work for the actualization of the candidates of Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas.

“We are here as the former executive members from the local governments and state levels to discuss issues concerning our party and also show loyalty and support to the existing executives at both levels. We have observed with keen interest the politics of the party concerning the 2023 elections and have resolved to endorse the candidature of Honourable Abdulrazak Namdas who has shown interest to contest for the seat of the governor of Adamawa state. This is because Namdas has proven to be a progressive politician and has given the people of Ganye, Jada, Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa the best representation so far. He has the credentials and capacity to be a governor and we are positive that he will deliver. That is why we are calling on the party to support his aspiration and ensure he gets the party’s ticket at the primaries,” he said.

He urged the former executives to remain loyal to the party and work towards reclaiming power in the state in the coming elections.

Hon. Abdulrahman Shuaibu who represented Namdas at the gathering applauded the decision of the former executives to come together and agree to support the existing executive. He also commended them for the foresight of supporting the candidature of Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas.
“I’m very impressed with the turn-out, zeal, and commitment of the APC members who are formers members of the executive of the party from local government to state level. This is a sign that the party will be more united and will love forward. I am confident that the message given to them will trickle down to the ward and unit level and hopefully, they will also join us and work for the success of the aspiration of our preferred candidate, Hon. Namdas,” he said.

A former commissioner and convener of the women for Namdas movement, Hajiya Halima Hayatu who spoke on behalf of the women group said she is happy that the meeting was a success. “As you can see these are APC members from the grassroots and former executives who played a part in building the party to where it is today. For us having them today shows that our campaign for Hon. namdas has gone down to the grassroots. I’m very optimistic because their actions here show us that they are with Namdas and they will take the message back to the grassroots and we shall get the governorship ticket at the primaries.

Some members of the former exco who spoke to newsmen after the event said they are grateful that Hon. Namdas has remembered them and identified with them after they lost elections. They said that the gesture only has endeared Namdas in their hearts while promising to work tirelessly to ensure that he gets the party’s tickets to fly its flags as the governorship candidate for the 2023 election.
