Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said he will not Lockdown the state for whatever reason. This is despite the significant increase in the number of infections from the coronavirus disease witnessed in the state recently.

The governor made this known while fielding questions from journalists at the Yola International Airport on his arrival from vacation.

Adamawa state has last week recorded 50 new cases of the coronavirus, the highest recorded in a day so far. This number has however dropped significantly with the last new infection of 26 persons recorded on the 10th of January, 2021.

The state now has a total of 494 infections with 233 on admission, 238 discharged while 26 people lost the battle against the disease.

But the governor said there is no cause for alarm.

” There will be no lockdown as far as I’m concern. But the committee and the state government are doing their best to see that we further enlighten our people to brace up and to ensure that we keep up with the COVID-19 protocols so that we remain safe in the state and the entire nation. This is my wish, but I won’t lock down the state for whatsoever reason,” Fintiri said.

Governor Fintirri had recently reiterated the need for citizens to observe all the none pharmaceutical protocols in order the stop the spread of the virus.
