Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state, has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the siting of Standard Organisations of Nigeria, SON, office in the State.

Tambuwal, while performing the ground breaking ceremony of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) state complex office, noted that the gesture would boost Small and Medium Enterprise, SMEs, in the state.

According to him, “the agency which is responsible for certification of product will promote national, regional and international trade hence, reduce over dependence on oil

“I have confidence on the capability of the new Director General of the agency, Mallam Farouk Salim, a reputable international pharmacist to deliver on the mandate giving.”

Responding to the request of the Director General for the state government to allocate a land for the agency to build a laboratory , the Governor directed the Commissioner of Commerce to liaise with the Commissioner of Land, to aquire land as, the state government will pay compensation for the land.

Earlier, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of Standard Organization of Nigeria, Mallam Farouk Salim, restated the resolve of the agency to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with a required standards needed to boost business.

Mallam Farouk explained that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the agency to help in diversifying the nation’s economy by boosting Small and Medium Enterprises .

He further disclosed that Nigeria has over one thousand Small and Medium Enterprises that if it is properly harness and manage it will create jobs for our teeming youths and also boost the country”s foreign exchange.
