Adeniyi Olugbemi

A renowned Professor of International Relations and Strategic Studies, Professor Femi Olufunmilade, has submitted his Letter of Intent to run for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

On ground at the SDP National Secretariat to receive him were members of the National Executive Committee, led by Dr Olu Agunloye.

Dr Agunloye, according to a statement issued by party National Publicity Secretary, Amb Rufus Aiyenigba, stated that, “the party appreciated the decision of the presidential hopeful to contest under SDP, a credible and viable alternative platform rooted in principle of social justice.

“The National Chairman further assured Professor Olufunmilade that all aspirants would be provided with a level playing ground and a credible process to contest for the flag of the party.”

Professor Olufunmilade, a Personal Assistant to the late Chief Bola Ige, was a founding member of three major political parties, the defunct Alliance for Democracy, AD, the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and the All Progressive Congress, APC.

In 2017, the Personal Assistant to late Chief Bola Ige, in the AD, shifted base politically to the Social Democratic Party, SDP, owing to lack of internal democracy in the APC and aspire to the office of the President on the ticket of the SDP in 2019.

The scholar and activist from Ogun State, while fielding questions from the press, at the party’s “Green Carpet Declaration” elaborated on his strategies to run for victory, and give the country its needed elusive breakthrough.
