The member representing Ganye, Jada, Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa federal constituency, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas has denied ‘blasting the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and Senator Ishaku Abbo over the choice of fielding a Muslim Muslim ticket by the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 presidential election.

Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas through his media aide, Percy Dabang described a report published by the online platform Yola 24 titled ‘Namdas Blasted Former SGF Babachir Lawal and Senator Ishaku Abbo’ as mischievous and an attempt to gain cheap popularity.

“The report by Yola 24 on Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas is fake and completely out of place. It is true that Hon. Namdas distributed free fertilizer to farmers in his constituency as part of his effort to ensure a bumper harvest and food security. But there was never a time and place where he blasted any member of the APC for rejecting the Muslim Muslim presidential ticket for the 2023 elections. The report by Yola 24 is therefore malicious and a disgrace to the journalism profession if at all the publisher is a journalist”, Percy said.

He added that when asked about the Muslim Muslim ticket by journalists during the flag-off, Namdas said “I think we have passed that stage now. A lot of Christians have also come out to say they are in support of the Muslim Muslim candidature. Not all Christians are angry. Of course, some people may not like it, but the most important thing is that I’ll plead with the media not to be used on issues such as religion. We should be able to work towards competence. Let me give you an example, there was a time in this country when we had a Christian president who was the architect of the Almajiri school system, Goodluck Jonathan, and when the Muslims came into power, the Almajiri schools are not functioning as when a Christian was the president. There was also a time in history in this country when an Imam saved over 300 Christians when they were attacked. These are the issues we are talking about and not about using religion against the party. Let’s look at competence and people that can deliver. We have Tinubu, we have Kashim and of course, they can deliver. We are pleading with whoever is not happy to please rethink and let’s work together. We will insist that Christians are carried onboard and given what they are due to them.”

He added that there was nowhere Hon. Namdas mentioned the name of either Babachir Lawal or Senator Ishaku Abboin in the interview as quoted above as portrayed by the purported reporter.

He, therefore, called on the publisher to respect the ideals and principles of journalism and desist from creating stories out of nowhere to get cheap popularity.
