The newly appointed Rector of the Adamawa state Polytechnic, Yola, Dr Muhammad Toungos, said his target is to make the polytechnic to be one of the best in the country.

The Rector made this known while hosting the newly elected Executives of the Adamawa state Correspondents’ chapel at the institution’s conference hall in Yola. Dr. Toungos said he has since started work and have put plans in place for the development of the Polytechnic. He said that he will work hard and ensure that the institution becomes one of the best seven polytechnics in Nigeria during his tenure as rector.

He said with the commitment and unparalleled support of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, towards education, the institution will witness massive turn around in the near future.

“I came with open hand with vision and mission for this polytechnic. I want to make sure that this polytechnic will became one of the seven best Polytechnics in Nigeria.

“Because I knew Gov. Fintiri is not like other politicians who does not fulfill promises”, he said.

Toungos said that their mandate is to train highly skilled cadre and the polytechnic has the best mass communication department in the Northeast.

He appealed to journalist in the state to always ensure objective reportage unlike that of the social media.

Toungos assured the journalists that his doors are always opened to them for constructive engagements saying that journalist will not be subjected to protocols whenever they want to see him.

According to him, within the few days in the institution, things have started changing due to his open door policy of seamless relationship with the staff.

In his address, Mr Padio Phiniaes, Chairman correspondent’s chapel congratulated the Rector for well deserved appointment and assured good working relationship with the Polytechnic.

According to him, as professionals they will ensure to work best on the ethics of the profession.
