The Secretary to The Adamawa State Government and Chairman of the Coronavirus Containment Committee, Bashiru Ahmed, says the state is fully prepared to curb the spread of the coronavirus with only four ventilators.
Dr Bashir said the statement government had recently acquired one thousand, two hundred and thirty one (1231) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), for the personnel in case of any outbreak.
Ahmed, while addressing journalists at the government house Yola, explained that a single ventilator can take care of ten patients and with two ventilators expected in the state, sixty patients can be adequately taken care with six ventilators, hence, the state is adequately ready to deal with the outbreak of coronavirus.
Ahmed said, “I can assure you that we have put all necessary efforts to ensure a proper and satisfactory isolation center is established in the state.
“The state has adequately prepared for eventuality. I assure you in case of any eventuality, the state is adequately prepared.
“We have four ventilators in the state, three from FMC and one is an existing ventilator that has been repaired,” he said.
He noted that the state government had moved the isolation centre from the specialist hospital to the Yola German hospital with 32 beds to take care of any suspected case.
Ahmed disclosed that so far, only one sample has been sent for examination and the result had returned negative.
