Dear Sir,

Please allow me some space in your widely read weekly newspaper, Newsline on Sunday, to comment on the above subject matter. The last administration in Niger State evolved a scheme under which it distributed laptops for teachers free of charge. This policy was later revised, under which Ipads were disbursed among teachers, at the end of which N21,000 was deducted from teachers’ salaries over a period  of 10 months. The deductions, which amounted to N2,000 monthly, were expected to elapse by September, 2015. As I write today, many of us have neither seen nor collected the electronic devices.

Why many of us have not received these devices is a big question. However, it has been alleged that the contractor is not capable of handling this contract. Many of these products were also alleged to be non-functional.

In view of the above, I want to appeal to the state government to, as a matter of urgency, intervene in the matter to ensure the immediate refund of money deducted from our salaries, for products not delivered. This is a gross breach of contract and a violation of our human rights.
